M from Libya, he is 7 years old autistic student in Tamayouz center one of rehabilitation centers in Alexandria. He’s mum mentioned that she can’t find the suitable way to communicate with him so that she can’t go out home with him specially according to their culture in their country. After his mum took the ComAlong course his mum said that she finally found a new way to get out home with him to communicate outside.

Mo is a boy 10 years old having autism disorder

Mo is a boy 10 years old having autism disorder. He can’t communicate verbally that his only skill in communicating with others was by pictures but in a very limited ability. He couldn’t understand any spoken words. Then his teacher started to use AAC he started to use written words with pictures on PECS method until he could use sentences consists of 4 words with her and other teachers in the school in different situations.

Y the boy with cerebral palsy and a mild intellectual disability

Y the boy with cerebral palsy and a mild intellectual disability he is 12 years old. His parents came to Fairhaven school complaining his feelings of disappointed and frustrated because he couldn’t learn or communicate with others because no center or special school in Alexandria accepted him. When he started training with our team on AAC we started with him using eye pointing. At that time he could choose between two options then more options. After that he started to learn how to read and write. Then he received his eye tracker as a gift from Sweden. Mina, the data manager at the center installed the software and it was with excitement we tested to see if Y could use this system. It turned out to work perfectly. Y was so exultant and began using his eyes to control the computer. The joy was great! A new lift began for Y. he can now control his own computer. In the school Y has started writing words and sentences expressing what he needs and what he want to have a discussion about with him.

N is a student at Fairhaven school, she is 21 years old having cerebral palsy

N is a student at Fairhaven school, she is 21 years old having cerebral palsy disability. She couldn’t find any help in any place to accept her because of her disability and age. Then she met one of ComAlong leaders and heard about Fairhaven school wheeling chair’s classes and they accepted her there. Now she’s behaviorally better and she started to have a goal of life which is going to school daily and through using AAC methods she became able to learn and train by using eye pointing and head pointing that affected on her motor skills in using head and communicating better with surrounding people.
